Comments Off

Route 28 was closed for more than two hours –in both directions- following a motorcycle accident that killed one and injured three others, police said.

According to police, they received reports that the motorcycle involved in the accident was traveling at a high rate of speed, nearly 100 mph, and weaving in and out of traffic before it crashed into a car that was turning into the Centerville Shopping Plaza on Sunday morning.

There were no skid marks at the scene of the accident. Witnesses told police that the driver of the motorcycle traveled well over 100 feet through the air following the collision. Police are still interviewing witnesses.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the injured occupants of the car were taken to Cape Cod Hospital with serious injuries. A third occupant was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. The victim’s name has not been released pending family notification.
